Erasmus placement in Italy at ACARBIO (Internship)

ACARBIO is part of the network of hosting organizations for university students that want to have a working experience in a foreign country. If your university falls under the country participating to Leonardo Da Vinci and Erasmus programme, you are entitled to take this great opportunity that will contribute greatly to shape yourself both professionally and on a personal ground. 



This is an offer for unpaid internships for students who are financially supported by their university through scholarship or other funding. For more information ask to your university's office for their Erasmus Placement programme or other abroad opportunities they offer.


What is ACARBIO?

ACARBIO is short for "Associazione Costiera Amalfitana Riserva Biosfera" and it is a non-profit organization established in Italy since 2009, in the beautiful Amalfi Coast, having its headquarter placed in Tramonti. 


What do we do?

ACARBIO is engaged in the organization and coordination of projects which aim to strengthen the Amalfi Coast candidature as Biosphere Reserve within the MAB-UNESCO Programme. Its activities focus on the conservation and safeguard of the natural and historical-cultural heritage of the Amalfi Coast, by promoting any kind of sustainable development in the field of the environment, tourism, mobility, energy. It also pays particular attention to the conservation and protection of historic buildings, monuments, marks left by the ancient civilizations and local traditions.

We organize activities such as public conferences, meetings, educational excursions, youth projects, trainings, seminars, youth exchanges, international work camps, local projects on the topic of the environmental protection, sustainable development, preservation of local traditions, etc. The aim is to raise awareness on the topic of competence, to support a sustainable development of the area, to involve young people in volunteering work and to open the horizon of opportunities on an international level.


What do trainees do in ACARBIO? 

Depending on the period and projects, departments and functions may vary a lot. Generally students coming for an internship will be engaged in activities such as:

- Communication of the association projects (contents for blogs, websites and social network, awareness campaigns, etc.);

- Event planning

- Erasmus+ and youth projects implementation and writing

- Coordination of international work camps for volunteers

- Coordination of projects for monitoring the local environment

- Coordination of projects involving disadvantages people (social projects)

- Researches on local biodiversities, sustainable agriculture, MAB-UNESCO

Location and accomodation



The office of the organization is located in Tramonti, surrounded by nature. Inside we also have a kitchen that can be used to cook your meals. For the accommodation, ACARBIO has got a Guest House for students.




Tramonti is at 5 km from the seaside, very close to famous places like Amalfi, Positano, Ravello, the ancient roman ruins of Pompei and Ercolano, the Vesuvio and more. This is one of the richest regions of Italy in terms of natural and cultural resources.

For the funding dedicated to students who wants to do a placement, ask to your University's Erasmus office and they will provide you with all the required info and documentation.
